New Featured Artist - Sarah Bagshaw and her Etsy Shop Sarah Bee Illustration

Hi,

my name’s Sarah Bagshaw and I’ve recently entered the world of Etsy selling! My background in brief is a degree in Fine Art, a Masters in Surface Design and 10 years lecturing in Art and Design in Birmingham, UK. I have two (very active!) young boys, Rudi and Art …..and a baby girl due in the next few months.

I have always made art work of some form or another (painting, printing, computer-aided and papercuts) but have never really had the confidence to do anything with it! I’ve been blogging for a few years but for some reason I didn’t think about using Etsy until a few weeks ago! I have developed a way of working that fits around my job and family, gives me a creative outlet (making me much nicer to live with!!) and I believe this also makes me a better art educator.  I have been obsessed with patterns since my degree many years ago – and this is still a huge interest of mine – at the moment I am exploring hand-drawn patterns drawing from a range of influences from the fields of fine art and textile design.

The plan is to keep developing my work whilst on maternity leave – I just hope this baby is calmer than the boys and likes her sleep! I appreciate every visitor to my Etsy shop and if you have anything specific in mind, then please contact me!
Here is a beautiful (!) treasury that Sarah put together showcasing some of her amazing work:

  1. Hi Sarah,

You did such a beautiful job with your story, treasury, and your picture reminds me very much of a good friend of mine--except your hair is short! You are one busy lady! I really love your work; I, too am obsessed with patterns, texture and really respond and relate to your work. Thanks for being our featured artist this week! Pam : )
